NOAH'S ARK PET &
SUPPLIES

One of the questions that many people ask is how difficult it is to housebreak a
puppy, and the fact is that it's not nearly as difficult as people imagine.  In fact,
with a little bit of patience and the right material, housebreaking your puppy can
be a quick and painless process.

First of all, keep in mind that your puppy is much the same as a new baby --
minus the diapers.  You'll need to make sure that you show a little patience and
understanding in the early days.  Your puppy really wants to please you, but he
or she might not yet have everything down.

What you'll want to do is have something that your puppy can use in the early
stages of potty training.  One of the best things that you can use are the
disposable puppy "wee wee" pads.  It contains a special scent that will make
your puppy want to use that area for their bathroom needs.

When your puppy begins to use the wee wee pads, you can move them closer
and closer to the door that you'll use when you take them outside.  At this point,
you can even put the pad outside, and from there, it's a simple matter to take
away the pad and have them use the great outdoors.

An important tool in housebreaking your pet is to use a crate.  Make sure the
crate is large enough for the puppy to have some room, but not so large that
they can have an accident and avoid it.  By their very nature, dogs do not like
to soil the areas where they live, which makes it very easy to housebreak them.

Keep in mind that no dog will be immune from accidents.  When one happens,
the important thing to remember is to remain calm and don't yell at the puppy.
With a little effort, you'll be able to quickly have your new puppy become a
member of the household with little or no problems.
